Overview

We are looking for an experienced leader to head company`s multidisciplinary R&D organization and drive the development of innovative technology products from concept through production.

The role is responsible for managing these functions as an integrated product development organization, ensuring effective collaboration, clear priorities, efficient execution, and successful delivery of products to market.

This is a leadership role focused on strategy, people, project portfolio management, and organizational effectiveness rather than deep expertise in any single engineering discipline.

Responsibilities:

Strategy, Technology & Innovation

• Develop and execute the R&D strategy aligned with the company’s business objectives.
• Define and maintain the company’s technology roadmap.
• Lead the evaluation of emerging technologies, research activities, and validation of new product concepts.
• Oversee the development of prototypes, proof-of-concepts, and experimental models to assess technical feasibility and commercial potential.
• Build and manage the company’s intellectual property portfolio, including patent activities and protection of key technologies.

Product Development & Project Portfolio Management

• Lead the full product development lifecycle from concept through production release.
• Manage the R&D project portfolio.
• Set priorities, allocate resources, and manage project risks.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to target product requirements.
• Develop and improve development processes and tools to increase speed, predictability, and time-to-market performance.

Engineering Organization Leadership

• Lead multidisciplinary engineering and research teams.
• Build an effective R&D organizational structure and management system.
• Develop leaders, technical experts, and succession pipelines.
• Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and results orientation.

Cross-Functional & External Collaboration

• Ensure effective collaboration between R&D and Product Management, Manufacturing, Marketing, Sales, and other business functions.
• Manage relationships with technology partners, suppliers, research institutions, and universities.
• Develop and improve R&D processes, tools, and management systems to increase organizational efficiency, reduce time-to-market, and improve project delivery predictability.

Resource & Performance Management

• Develop and manage the R&D budget.
• Plan staffing, equipment, and infrastructure requirements.
• Ensure effective resource utilization and achievement of R&D performance objectives.
