Job description:

THE ROLE

We build the cloud platform behind connected home-energy hardware – heat pumps, EV chargers, home batteries and thermostats. Our services take device telemetry in, decide how equipment should run against live electricity-market prices and weather forecasts, and send commands back out. The code you write changes the temperature in someone’s house, or decides when their car charges tonight.

We’re looking for a mid-level .NET developer to join the engineering team. The role is backend-first: scalable services, APIs, integrations and cloud infrastructure.

Experience with React and TypeScript – or an appetite for picking it up – is a strong plus, but the job stands on its own without it.

If you like distributed systems, taking real ownership of a service, and the idea of software that reaches physical hardware, this should suit you.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Take features through the full lifecycle – from solution design to production delivery.
  • Build and maintain .NET services in C#, with clean, testable code.
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs and backend services.
  • Work on event-driven services and real-time device telemetry.
  • Develop new product features and improve what’s already running.
  • Work across cloud services, databases, messaging and distributed architectures.
  • Write unit tests and help keep our coverage and code-quality gates green.

What you’d actually be working with:

  • CORE: C# / .NET 8 ASP.NET Core Web API + Minimal APIs Microservices Clean architecture.
  • DATA: PostgreSQL EF Core Dapper Redis DynamoDB, Timestream time-series.
  • MESSAGING & REALTIME: RabbitMQ SignalR gRPC / Protobuf Event-driven integration.
  • PLATFORM SERVICES: Hangfire background jobs, NSubstitute, Duende IdentityServer OAuth2 / OIDC, xUnit.
  • DEVICE PROTOCOLS: MQTT, OCPP EV charging, Modbus.
  • AWS: EKS, IoT Core, S3, SQS, SES, Lambda, ECR, RDS, ElastiCache, CloudWatch, DynamoDB, Timestream.
  • INFRASTRUCTURE: Kubernetes, Docker, Kustomize, Terraform, Sealed Secrets.
  • DELIVERY: Azure DevOps, Azure Pipelines, Azure Artifacts, SonarCloud.
  • FRONTEND (optional): React 18, TypeScript, Vite, MUI, Redux Toolkit, TanStack Query.

Nobody arrives knowing all of this. We care that you’re strong in .NET and comfortable in a cloud environment – OCPP, Modbus and the energy domain are things you’ll pick up here.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • 2+ years of backend development with .NET / C#.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful API design.
  • Good grasp of SOLID and modern architecture patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, or another major cloud platform.
  • Experience with microservices and distributed systems.
  • Comfort with relational databases and ORMs – we use EF Core on PostgreSQL.
  • Strong problem-solving and a solution-focused mindset.
  • Ownership: you’re happy being the person responsible for a service.

Nice to have:

  • Frontend experience with React and TypeScript.
  • IoT, connected devices, or systems that touch physical hardware.
  • Time-series data or telemetry at scale.
  • Kubernetes and container orchestration.
  • Message brokers and event-driven architecture.
  • Energy, utilities or electricity-market domain knowledge.
  • Interest in working across backend, cloud and device integration.

WHY IGLU?

A scheduled job pulls tomorrow’s day-ahead electricity prices from the European transparency platform, joins them with a weather forecast, and works out how a heat pump should run overnight. An EV charger opens a WebSocket and starts speaking OCPP to a service you maintain. A thermostat publishes to an MQTT topic and a dashboard updates in real time.

Most .NET roles are business applications. This one has physical consequences, market data and hardware protocols in the middle of it.

You’ll work in a small engineering team across three environments with real production traffic, on a platform that’s been growing since 2021 – mature enough to have proper patterns, small enough that your architectural decisions actually stick. There’s plenty left to build, and genuine ownership over the parts you build.

Monthly Salary:
