Job description:
THE ROLE
We build the cloud platform behind connected home-energy hardware – heat pumps, EV charging stations, home batteries and other smart equipment. Devices report in, our services decide how that equipment should run against live electricity market prices and weather forecasts, and commands go back out.
We’re looking for an experienced Solution Architect to shape how all of that fits together. This is a hands-on architecture role: you’ll work with business analysts, software developers and the firmware team to turn business needs into scalable, reliable and maintainable technical solutions – and you’ll be close enough to the code to know whether your designs actually hold.
What you’d be architecting on
CORE: C# / .NET 8, ASP.NET Core, Microservices, BFF pattern, Clean architecture.
DATA: PostgreSQL, EF Core, Dapper, Timestream time-series, Redis, DynamoDB.
MESSAGING & REALTIME: RabbitMQ, gRPC / Protobuf, SignalR, Event-driven integration, Outbox pattern.
DEVICE PROTOCOLS: MQTT, OCPP EV charging, Modbus.
IDENTITY: OAuth2 / OIDC, Duende IdentityServer, Partner API clients.
AWS: EKS, IoT Core, Lambda, RDS, ElastiCache, DynamoDB, Timestream, S3, SQS, SES, ECR, CloudWatch.
INFRASTRUCTURE: Kubernetes, Docker, Kustomize, Terraform.
DELIVERY: Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines, SonarCloud.
FRONTEND: React, TypeScript, Vite, MUI.
EXTERNAL FEEDS: Day-ahead electricity prices, Weather forecast APIs, Partner integrations.
We don’t expect fluency in all of it. Depth in cloud and backend architecture is what matters – OCPP, Modbus and the energy domain are learnable, and you’d have a firmware team to learn them with.
