Director of Software Engineering
StormGeo is looking for a Director of Software Engineering to lead and evolve our global engineering organisation of more than 100 developers.
Based in Vilnius and reporting to the CTO, you will influence engineering across the organisation by leading through engineering managers, Tech Leads and senior technical leaders. You will shape our technical direction, strengthen leadership capability and lead the transformation towards AI-enabled product and software development.
This is a senior engineering leadership role. It is not primarily delivery management and does not require daily coding, but it does require strong credibility in software engineering and architecture.
What you will lead
- Leadership through leaders: Build, coach and hold engineering managers, Tech Leads and senior technical leaders accountable for people, delivery, quality and technical health. Strengthen succession, decision-making and organisational autonomy.
- Technical direction: Set engineering direction, challenge architectural decisions and improve alignment around standards, scalability, security, reliability and long-term technical health.
- AI-enabled transformation: Evolve StormGeo’s Product Lifecycle and Software Development Lifecycle as AI changes how software is discovered, designed, built, tested, secured, deployed and modernized. Scale valuable use cases while managing quality, security, cost and accountability.
- Engineering and business outcomes: Strengthen DevSecOps, reliability, observability, production ownership and modernization. Partner with Product to align engineering capacity, technical investment, customer value and business priorities.
- 7 + years of progressive engineering leadership experience, including leading through engineering managers, Tech Leads and senior technical leaders.
- Experience leading engineering organisations of meaningful scale across multiple teams, products or locations.
- A strong software-engineering and architecture background, with the credibility to guide and challenge senior engineers and technical leaders.
- A track record of developing leaders, building succession, strengthening accountability and improving organisational capability.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted software-development tools, such as Claude, Codex or equivalent, across activities such as design, coding, testing, documentation or modernization.
- Practical understanding of DevSecOps, reliability and secure software development.
- Strong Product partnership, communication and commercial judgment.
- Experience leading or materially contributing to AI-enabled transformation in software engineering, product development or technology operations is a clear advantage.
- Experience with Microsoft-based engineering environments, including .NET and related cloud technologies, is also an advantage. Broad technical leadership and engineering judgment are more important than expertise in any single technology.

Monthly Salary:
€10000 - €12500 gross
